West Track Studios
West Track Studios is a purpose built recording, rehearsal and multimedia facility situated in St Dunstans, in the centre of historic Canterbury.
The studio is run by the Skillnet Group – a Community Interest Company (not for profit organisation) that works with people with learning difficulties. The studio is open to everyone and is fully accessible for people that use wheelchairs, which is fairly unique in the recording and rehearsal business.
The rehearsal space is 9 x 5.5 metres. The control room is 4 x 5.5 metres.
We have a fully accessible toilet and a kitchen area that can be used by people hiring the studios. We are close to public transport links – Canterbury West Train Station is a 5 minute walk, as are the nearest bus stops and Canterbury’s central shopping area, St Peters Street.
Live Rehearsals
West Track Studios can cater for live band rehearsals on a plug ‘n’ play basis, with a drum kit, bass and guitar amplifiers and a good quality vocal P.A. available to use.
Recording
We have a good sized control room with space for the whole band, plus a recording engineer and an integral drum, vocal and instrument booth.
The rehearsal space can also be used for recording in conjunction with the other two rooms and there are multi-core feeds from both live areas into the mixing desk: 24 from the rehearsal area and 16 from the drum room.
All of the rooms have been designed with acoustics in mind with sloping ceilings, acoustic roofing tiles and treated walls.
